英文对照Faraday effect
名词定义当线极化电磁波传过静磁场作用下的旋磁介质，且静磁场具有沿传输方向的磁场强度分量时，线极化电磁波的电通密度矢量绕传播方向旋转的磁-光效应。是由于转向相反的两个圆极化波的折射率不同所产生的双折射造成的，旋转角正比于磁场强度值和波在介质中的传播距离，比例系数称“韦尔代常数”。
